Anthony Short Antiques has dated this George III Tray Top Commode to the 18th Century.
The rounded rectangular galleried top with pierced carrying handles sits above beautifully figured mahogany doors with ebony stringing, flanked by inlaid canted corners. Below is a single commode drawer with its original brass swan-neck handle and a shaped, waved apron, all raised on square moulded legs.

This fine quality George III bedside cabinet is not only a testament to exceptional craftsmanship but also a striking focal point for any home or bedroom that values history and quality. The mahogany has developed a beautiful, rich patina over time, enhancing the depth and warmth of the timber – a hallmark of pieces from this era. Sturdy, strong and ready to use, it has all the charm of an English country house interior.
