A fabulous rare early Victorian gold and silver turquoise and paste sword jabot pin, the silver sword backed with gold, the connecting chain also in gold with pearl spacers A jabot pin (or sūreté pin) is a decorative two-ended brooch pin designed to pass through fabric so the pin is hidden, leaving only the adorned ends visible to fasten a ruffled fabric (jabot) or as standalone jewellery, popular in the 18th century and revived in the 1920s-30s with Art Deco designs. Struck on the back with a mark in an oval punch, possibly a maker’s mark.
Condition: In excellent wearable antique condition, the paste stones bright and lively, the cabochon bezel set turquoise well matched, pin fits snuggly into base. One seed pearl missing from connecting chain, see photos.
Dimensions: 80 x 28mm. 5.73g
