Victorian Blanket Chest

19th century
Description

A fairly large Victorian blanket chest, retaining its original penny-end strap hinges and featuring a candle box inside on the right-hand side. There is no key for the lock, which is quite typical for pieces of this age.

I believe the chest is made from ash, and it’s in very nice condition for its period. When waxed, we have fitted a new pine plinth along the bottom, which blends in nicely with the piece. It is currently in bare wood and can be purchased as it is for £280, or £327 if waxed.

Dimensions: height 18.5", width 41", depth 19.5"
