William Joseph Shayer was an animal and landscape painter, who was also the eldest son of William Shayer. William Joseph exhibited at the Royal Academy in 1858 and in 1885, at the British Institution
...and at Suffolk Street.He lived in Southampton and painted mostly in Hampshire and the New Forest. He worked closely with his father, also William Shayer. Their work is often confused as both had almost identical subjects and style. A known and prolific artist both of Animals and Landscapes.
