Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Originating in Britain during the reign of King William IV between 1830 and 1837, this style bridges Regency classical proportions and Victorian robust ornamentation, frequently featuring bold lotus leaf, acanthus, or tulip carvings on solid hardwoods.

These items were typically hand-carved from dense timber such as Cuban mahogany, constructed using lathe-turned bases and hand-chiselled decorative fluting, often originally designed as candle stands or oil lamps before later conversion to electricity.

Look for evidence of hand-carved motifs showing minor human irregularities, deep patination within carved crevices, historic conversion channels for electrical fittings, and substantial weight characteristic of dense 19th-century mahogany.

Position them symmetrically on a sleek modern sideboard or contemporary console table, pairing the warm wood tones with tailored neutral fabric shades to create contrast between historical craftsmanship and clean modern lines.

Dust regularly with a soft dry lint-free cloth and apply high-quality beeswax polish sparingly along the wood grain once or twice a year to maintain the protective patination, avoiding modern chemical spray polishes and direct sunlight.
