Handsome William IV Brass Bound Rosewood Jewelry Box C.1830

Description

A very handsome antique English Jewellery box, perfect for either a lady or gentleman; of course with many other uses, making a perfect desk-top box too.

Created from exotic Rosewood, the box is brass bound in a military or campaign style; the front have a decorative inlaid brass escutcheon, alas, no key. The top of the box has an inlaid shaped plaque, engraved with a regal looking family crest, with decorative initials below, I think J.H.W.

The interior reveals a removable tray, all professionally re-lined in a vibrant hand-marbelled paper, creating a clean and usable finish. The interior of the lid retains the original leather fall front lining, which has a storage compartment below, the leather is beautifully gold embossed.

Excellent condition, measuring 9 3/4" x 7 1/4" x 4 3/4".
