This is a scarce Georgian, English, large jelly or syllabub glass with a single handle dating from the second half of the 18th century, c1780. The glass is in excellent condition for its age. This means, of course, that it shows age related wear and tear to the rim of the foot consistent with some 200 years of use. It has a rough pontil mark on the underside of the foot.The glass has a panel-moulded bell-shaped bowl measuring 7 cm (2.8 inches) in diameter at the rim. The bowl is panel-moulded and sits directly on a plain annular knop and a moulded, domed foot which measures 5.7 cm (2.2 inches) in diameter. The glass is 11.2 cm (4.5 inches) in height. The handle was first applied to the top of the bowl and then finished off at the bottom of the bowl with a curlicue.
