A handsome late 19th-century walnut framed open armchair in the William & Mary style, upholstered in a deep blue velvet. The shaped upholstered back and generous seat are finished with traditional brass nailhead trim, giving a smart and period-appropriate look.

The well-drawn scroll arms sit on turned supports, above a baluster-turned front stretcher and matching side and rear stretchers. The chair stands on robust block and turned legs, the walnut frame retaining an attractive colour and patination.

A comfortable and decorative piece with strong 17th-century revival character, ready to place.
