For sale is a beautiful solid silver and etched glass claret jug, featuring exquisite craftsmanship and elegant flowing design. The piece bears Austrian silver hallmarks, including “AP”, which is commonly associated with makers such as Adolf Prischi of Vienna around 1900, or alternatively may reference the Pest (Budapest) city mark used during the Austria–Hungary period (1886–1922). Based on the style and markings, the jug can confidently be dated to circa 1900.
The silverwork features a delicate tulip-inspired floral motif, complemented by graceful waves and swirls that continue seamlessly into the beautifully etched glass body. The ornate detailing also extends along the handle, giving the jug a wonderfully cohesive aesthetic. The lid is topped with an attractive finial and carries the same decorative pattern; it sits slightly loosely but remains functional.
This is one of a pair, with the other being smaller... (also available to view).
A superb and practical table piece, or equally a striking cabinet display item for any collector of fine silver or antique glassware.
