We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Victorian silver-plated tea accessories from the late nineteenth century often feature ornate Rococo Revival design elements, including elaborate floral repousse work, chased scroll patterns, sculpted handles, and gilded interiors designed to protect against oxidation.

These pieces were produced using electroplating, a process where a thin layer of pure silver was deposited onto a base metal core, such as nickel silver or Britannia metal. Decorative relief designs were achieved using repousse hammering and surface chasing techniques.

Authentic pieces generally display manufacturer touchmarks or stamps indicating electroplating, such as EPNS (Electroplated Nickel Silver) or specific maker initials. Natural signs of age include light surface tarnishing and subtle rub marks where the base metal shows through high-wear points.

Place the pieces together on a mirrored tray atop a dining room sideboard or kitchen island to create an elegant tea station display. They can also be integrated into a glass display cabinet alongside contemporary ceramics for textural contrast.

Clean gently using a soft cloth and a specialised, non-abrasive silver polish formulated for electroplated items. Avoid harsh dip chemicals or abrasive sponges that can wear down the thin outer layer of silver plating.
