Chinese Famille Rose Armorial Octagonal Soup Plate with the Coat of Arms of Pickering, circa 1775

For sale is an excellent example of a Chinese Famille Rose armorial octagonal soup plate bearing the Coat of Arms of Pickering, dating to around 1775. The plate is in very good condition, showing only a small glaze flake visible in the photos, and is free from restoration, chips, or cracks.

It measures 22.6 cm in diameter and 4.2 cm in height. This specific Coat of Arms is illustrated and discussed in Chinese Armorial Porcelain, by David Sanctuary Howard, page 638, S10, “Flower Festoons.”

A rare and fine example.
