A very large, high quality mid to late 19th century Egyptian heavy Cairo Ware bronze charger profusely inlaid with raised and engraved in silver and copper with ancient Egyptian figures and hieroglyphs all within panels and edged boarders.
These rare early examples are not to be mistaken for later mass produced pieces from the mid to late 20th century.
These early examples are highly skilled works of art, completely handmade, hammered from heavy bronze or brass, which is deeply hand carved and inlaid with silver and copper, which had been hand cut and engraved with fine detail.
These highly decorative pieces were made and sold to wealthy Grand Tour travellers visiting Egypt and the pyramids with their fascinating ancient history.
