Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Named after Prince Albert during the Victorian era, the Albert chain was originally designed to secure a pocket watch to a gentlemans waistcoat buttonhole via a T-bar. Over time, these functional items evolved into decorative accessories and are frequently repurposed as statement necklaces today.

During the 1930s, watch chains were predominantly crafted from sterling silver, hallmarked silver plate, and various carats of gold. They typically featured sturdy curb or belcher link construction alongside drop fobs and swivel clasps.

Authentic silver watch chains often display British hallmarks or purity stamps on individual links, T-bars, and swivel clips. Wear patterns around the link connection points and makers marks on attached fobs also indicate genuine historical age.

When not being worn, vintage watch chains can be styled as decorative objects arranged inside a glass trinket dish, hung from an antique valet stand, or displayed on a vanity tray in a dressing room.

Clean silver chains gently using a specialised microfibre silver polishing cloth to remove tarnish without stripping historical patina. Avoid submerging the piece in harsh liquid chemical cleaners that can damage decorative engraving or swivel mechanisms.
