A decorative pair of French gilt bronze urns, later adapted as table lamps, dating from around 1900.
 
Each urn is finely cast in relief with playful scenes of putti amid scrolling foliage and drapery, and mounted with classically draped female figures forming the handles. The bases are supported on acanthus-moulded pedestals and paw feet.
 
The bronze retains an attractive mellow patination with age-related wear. Converted for electricity at a later date (untested).
