Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
The bag is made from a rich Burgundy velvet trimmed with silk ribbon, finished with a silk cord handle; the interior too is lined in red silk.

The neck of the bag is made from gilded brass or Ormolu, the hinged lid pierced on the top; I am guessing that this acted as a Vinaigrette with a perfume scented handkerchief would be place in the top of the bag.

The beautiful glasses are clad in bright iridescent Mother of Pearl and the frame created from polished brass; I have had these professionally re-polished to gleam. The bridge at the top is engraved by the maker " Iris / Paris ". The glasses are in perfect working order.

A stunning offering and unusual find in excellent condition; the bag with minor wear commensurate with age.
The glasses measure 4 1/8" x 2 3/8" expanding to 3"; the bag measuring 6 1/4" x 4 1/2" excluding cord handle.
