Irish Mahogany Chair Circa 1770 With 19th Century Copy.

A pair of mahogany side chairs. One is an Irish example circa 1770 with the other being a later copy made by Cowtan and Sons Ltd of Oxford St. London circa 1880. These chairs are of exceptional quality including fine carving down the legs. Very wide seats covered in green leather. The later chair has the Cowtan stamp.

Cowtan and Sons were an important interior decoration company famous for their wallpaper and whose customers included UK and European royalty. On a lesser scale they produced some top quality pieces of furniture which are now rare.
 
We offer these chairs for sale as a pair but would consider selling seperately.
