A fine Barr, Flight & Barr Worcester Porcelain plate c.1807-1813. The cavetto decorated with a finely hand painted Cone Shell (Conus textile) and Seaweed, perhaps by Thomas Baxter, all reserved on turquoise ground, the border decorated with a continuous finely gilded band including scrolling foliage, Dragon’s heads and gilt stars.
Thomas Baxter’s name became synonymous with shell painting on Regency Worcester porcelain. Baxter''s shell painting is highly distinctive and individual, and always of exceptional quality. He mastered perspective and painted his shells ''from nature''.
Printed mark in red referring to Coventry Street address. Impressed BFB mark.
Condition: Good with just some minor surface wear and a small restored chip to the reverse
