Lovely French (early 20thC) sculpture, 'Jeune fille agenouillée', after Aristide Maillol (1861-1944. Marble pedestal inscribed ‘Maillol’. 17cm high (25cm with base) x 8cm wide x 11.5cm deep, weight 3kg.

Excellent condition.

Aristide Joseph Bonaventure Maillol was a French Catalan sculptor, painter and printmaker. He began his career as a painter and developed an early interest in the decorative arts. From his early 40s Maillol primarily interested in sculpture and became one of the most famous sculptors of his time, his work being displayed in museums and galleries worldwide.
