Early 19th Century Windsor Chair - Nottinghamshire

£600    $813    €707
A Georgian yew and elm Windsor chair almost certainly manufactured in Retford, Nottinghamshire (circa 1800-1820).

In yew with a bell-shaped elm seat having a scribe line around the edge. Additionally, with shaped and flattened underarm supports that are morticed into the edge of the seat, three tapered underarm spindles and eight long tapering back spindles. Finished with a stylised fleur-de-lis upper splat.

The overall condition is very good with a beautiful worn patination. We have noted three areas of historic repair which add to the character of this lovely chair. One to the arm bow where it meets the back bow, one to the underside of the chair to secure the split in the seat and finally where the crinoline stretcher meets the rear supports. Please see images for details of these charmingly naive historic details.

Delivery within the UK mainland (excluding Devon, Cornwall, Scotland & Wales) is free of charge and will be completed by my own privately appointed courier. ...
