Victorian 1896 James Dixon & Sons Sheffield Art Deco Two-Handled Trophy Cup
An antique sterling silver two-handled trophy cup from the Art Deco period. The hallmarks confirm that the cup was made by James Dixon & Sons (JD&S), a prominent manufacturer from Sheffield. The piece was assayed at the Sheffield Assay Office and bears the lion passant standard mark, which guarantees it is made of 92.5% pure sterling silver. The date letter ''I'' within the shield indicates that the item was hallmarked in 1896. This cup is a historical piece that would have been awarded as a prize or ceremonial item.
