Description

An excellent antique Victorian silver and agate barrel vinaigrette. Made by Mackay and Chisholm of Edinburgh around 1880. Unusually there is the makers mark on the base, usually these items are unmarked. It has a pullout grill engraved with circles and has drilled holes for the smelling salts or vinaiger. The agates are in excellent undamaged condition, the silver collar has two small dents, the top dome is made from a quartz crystal. These barrel vinaigrettes are typically Scottish and very rare and collectable.
