A superb, rare Irish side chair made from a heavy red walnut circa 1750. With quality carving to the back and deep, shaped rails.
The front cabriole legs are also carved and sit of ball and claw feet. The seat is wide and in excellent condition having been re-covered in a luxurious velvet fabric. An interesting feature of the chair, which can only been seen on close examination, is the scarfing to all four legs which was a process sometimes used during the making of furniture of this period.
A stunning piece of Irish furniture from the 18th century.
