This is a rare, large and exceptional early 19th-century Oil on Canvas Painting depicting a 17th-century example of Peter Paul Rubens'' work, entitled: The Judgement of Paris, circa 1636.
This example was painted in the early 19th century, circa 1830s.
It is mounted within the spectacular original giltwood and gesso moulded frame, which is embellished with acanthus leaf carvings.
Indeed, it is a fabulous, original, untouched oil painting that has all of the period charm that one desires in a large-scale painting.
