Large Museum Quality 8th/9th-Century Chinese Tang Dynasty Painted Pottery Horse
Brief Description:
This is a large and truly magnificent, original 8th/9th-century Chinese Tang Dynasty Polychrome Painted Pottery Horse.
The original, unrestored and undamaged piece is painted with in red ground with yellow medallions and black dots.
The majestic beast stands four square on a flat, rectangular base, with the head turned low toward the left front leg.
The face is beautifully painted with large eyelashes. The saddle is painted in conforming colours with fine attention to detail.
Indeed, of the handful of original Tang Dynasty Horses we have had the pleasure of owning during the past 20 years, this piece is a step above our previous offerings.
The condition is flawless and worthy of a museum. The colours are vibrant and visible in most areas.
