Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A Victorian microscope slide cabinet is a specialised piece of scientific furniture designed in the nineteenth century to store glass slides. These cabinets feature multiple shallow wooden drawers fitted with slots or grooves to keep individual prepared specimens organised and protected from dust and damage.

These cabinets were predominantly crafted from dense hardwoods such as mahogany, oak, or walnut to ensure structural stability. The interiors featured pine or mahogany slide trays, brass flush-fitting handles, brass keyhole escutcheons, and clear glass door panels.

Authentic pieces display period construction techniques, including hand-cut dovetail joints, original brass hardware with natural oxidisation, and precise wooden drawer runners. The drawers often feature hand-written or stamped numbering alongside original porcelain or bone pull knobs.

A tabletop slide cabinet functions well on an office desk, console table, or library shelf as a focal display piece. Its compact footprint and rich wood tones integrate seamlessly into traditional, dark academia, or modern eclectic interior schemes.

Maintain the finish by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year along the grain. Keep the cabinet away from direct sunlight, radiators, and areas of high humidity to prevent timber shrinkage or warping.
