Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Popularised during the 1920s following the British Empire Exhibition, butterfly wing jewellery features the iridescent wings of South American Morpho butterflies mounted under glass, often combined with reverse-painted details or silver wirework.

These pieces typically consist of sterling silver settings, natural Morpho butterfly wing inserts, protective glass or crystal cabochons, and hand-painted enamel or lacquer artwork on the reverse of the glass.

Authentic pieces exhibit natural colour variation and iridescence that changes hue depending on the angle of light, along with period silver hallmarks such as STERLING, SILVER, or maker marks like TLM for Thomas L. Mott.

A butterfly wing pendant can be worn against dark, solid-coloured clothing to allow the shimmering blue hues of the Morpho wing to contrast clearly, suitable for both formal evening wear and casual tailoring.

Avoid exposing the pendant to water, steam, or liquid jewellery cleaners, as moisture penetrating the glass setting will discolour and permanently damage the butterfly wing. Clean the silver setting gently with a dry silver polishing cloth.
