Description

A 19th Century Imari Fish Bowl.

With a flat rim decorated with flower heads, against a blue ground, The underside of the rim, in a chamfer, and likewise decorated with flower heads, meeting the rounded bowl, with flower filled lappets over a ground of flowing flowers. The main body decorated with jardinieres, standing on a garden walkway. The jardinieres filled with extravagant displays of flowers, amongst which birds perch. The interior of the bowl decorated with exotic fish, that swim around sea weeds. The underside with a recessed foot rim.

Height 12 inches, 30.5cm.

Diameter 15 1/2 inches, 39cm.
