Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Reverse glass painting was an art form popularised in the 18th and 19th centuries, produced by Chinese artisans specifically for the Western export market, depicting traditional figures, landscapes, or mythological scenes painted onto the reverse side of glass or mirror panels.

Artisans applied pigments in reverse orderfine details first, background layers lastonto plain or partially silvered glass sheets, often utilising tin-mercury amalgam for the mirrored reflective areas and mounting the finished glass within native hardwood frames.

Authentic pieces typically exhibit hand-blown glass with subtle surface irregularities, characteristic flaking or oxidisation of the mercury silvering, hand-carved joinery on dark hardwood frames, and precise brushwork set behind the glass plane.

Position the piece as a focal accent on a neutral wall, above a console table, or within an eclectic room arrangement to contrast historic Asian trade art against contemporary furnishings.

Keep the artwork away from direct sunlight and high humidity, dust the wooden frame gently with a dry microfibre cloth, and avoid applying liquid glass cleaner directly onto the frame or aged glass surfaces.
