Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

French faience is a type of fine tin-glazed earthenware produced in France from the sixteenth century onwards. It features an opaque white lead-tin glaze decorated with hand-painted oxide pigments before firing.

These vessels were shaped from local earthenware clays using wheel-throwing or plaster molds, coated in an opaque white glaze, and hand-decorated with metallic mineral oxides prior to kiln firing.

Authentic pieces often exhibit fine glaze crazing, slight irregularities in hand-painted motifs, and minor pinholes in the glaze. Glazed undersides may feature hand-painted factory initials, painter marks, or numerical mold references alongside natural edge wear.

Large faience urns serve as prominent architectural focal points on sideboards, fireplace mantels, or hallway consoles. Displaying them as a symmetrical pair enhances formal balance, while pairing them with contemporary backdrops highlights their classical hand-painted details.

Dust surfaces regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth. Avoid immersing earthenware in water or using abrasive liquid cleansers, as moisture can seep through existing glaze micro-fissures into the porous clay body.
