A truly exceptional and highly unusual hand-painted Minton plate dating to around 1880. This piece stands out for its extraordinary level of detail and the complexity of its symbolic decoration. The plate features scenes that appear to be inspired by Biblical narratives, religious iconography, and possibly Masonic symbolism, suggested by several of the motifs incorporated into the design.
The artistry is meticulous—whoever painted this remarkable piece clearly invested significant time and skill into creating it. Each section of the plate is beautifully executed, with rich colours, fine outlining, and layered imagery that would have carried strong meaning for the original owner or recipient.
There is also an inscription on the reverse, adding further interest and potential for historical research. Plates of this nature are seldom found, particularly with such elaborate and meaningful decora...tion.
