Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A cabinet on chest, typical of the Queen Anne and George I periods, is a two-part piece of furniture comprising a upper double-door cabinet mounted over a lower chest of drawers, constructed to store both folded items and larger personal goods.

Craftsmen used native or imported walnut veneers, including figured burr walnut, laid over softwood or oak carcases. Details featured hand-cut dovetail joints, crossbanded borders, featherbanded inlays, cast brass hinges, and turned bun feet.

Authentic pieces exhibit early construction traits such as thick hand-cut veneers, oak drawer linings with grain running front-to-back, original hand-cast brass hardware, period-appropriate mouldings, and age-related wood shrinkage.

Position the piece as a focal point in a hallway, dining space, or drawing room, balancing its dark wood tones against neutral walls, contemporary lighting, or structured architectural details.

Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and sudden humidity fluctuations to prevent veneer movement. Dust regularly with a soft cloth and apply clear beeswax sparingly once or twice a year to preserve the surface finish.
