Description

An excellent quality William IVth period hallmarked silver TEA CADDY complete with its original leather-covered case. Of “bombé” shape it is decorated with embossed flowers and leaves around the top with engraved acanthus and shells to all four sides, and is raised on pretty lion’s paw feet. The hinged lid is similarly decorated and surmounted by an “urn” finial. An engraved crest can be found to the front and later engravings dated 1867-1871 to the sides. Hallmarked for Sheffield 1838, makers: Charles Hawksworth and John Eyre. Fine condition; dimensions of the leather case (which has a little wear are: 16 x 11 x 10cms.
