We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A D-end extending dining table features rounded terminal sections resembling the letter D, which can be detached or separated to accommodate additional insertion leaves. Popularised in the late 18th and 19th centuries, this design allowed dining spaces to adapt flexibly for hosting larger gatherings.

Primary construction typically utilised solid mahogany or rich mahogany veneers over oak or pine secondary framing due to mahoganys stability and strength. Mechanical extension mechanisms often incorporated wooden runners, brass clips, or drop-leaf hinges to support additional table sections.

Authentic period pieces exhibit hand-cut joinery, solid timber framing underneath, and natural patination across the surfaces. Examining the underside reveals hand-planed secondary timbers, period iron or brass hardware, and original wooden extension runners.

Pair the rich timber table with contemporary dining chairs upholstered in neutral linen or textured woven fabrics to create a balanced contrast. Complement the table surface with low-profile ceramic vessels or simple centrepieces to highlight the natural wood grain.

Dust regularly with a dry, soft cloth and apply high-quality beeswax polish sparingly once or twice a year along the grain. Protect the polished surface from heat, liquid spills, and direct sunlight using felt-backed table mats and coaster pads.
