Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Chippendale Revival furniture reproduces the designs popularised by Thomas Chippendale in the eighteenth century, incorporating key elements such as cabriole legs, claw and ball feet, carved acanthus details, and intricate blind fretwork. Produced during the late Victorian era, these pieces combine historic aesthetic features with nineteenth-century cabinetmaking techniques.

Primary construction relied heavily on dense hardwoods, most notably Cuban or Honduran mahogany, often paired with flame mahogany veneers for decorative door panels. Structural interiors and drawer linings frequently utilized secondary timbers such as oak, pine, or deal.

Authentic period cabinets display hand-cut dovetail joints, hand-planed back panels, and natural irregularities in timber wear. Look for signs of original patination, period brassware, and characteristic hand-carved decorative motifs rather than machine-moulded ornamentation.

Position the cabinet against a neutral wall to allow the rich timber tones to act as a focal point. Balance the historical visual weight by mounting modern artwork above the piece or styling the surface with contemporary ceramics and minimalist table lamps.

Maintain mahogany by dusting regularly with a soft, dry microfibre cloth and applying a high-quality beeswax polish once or twice a year in the direction of the grain. Keep the cabinet away from direct heat sources and direct sunlight to prevent timber warping and finish fading.
