Description

A very pretty antique French porcelain custard cup and cover of wide, round bellied form with a finely modelled scrolled handle. The domed cover has an applied flower bud knop with delicately shaped leaves and stem. Decorated to the edge of the cover and around the top of the cup with a waving gilt leaved vine with small blue enamel flower buds. Small gilt and blue enamel flowers are dotted around the belly and over the top of the cover. The knop is picked out in gilt and the rims and handle are also trimmed in gilt. An incised cross is marked to the base. Paris, c.1870.

It measures 7.5cm (3") high (5cm (2 1/8") to the rim) and 6.5cm (2 1/2") wide across the belly.

In truly excellent condition with no damage, repair or restoration and minimal handling wear.
