Late C17th / early C18th Japanese Edo period dished porcelain charger decorated in the Imari palette.
Large Japanese charger decorated in the traditional Imari palette of dark ‘inky’ and pale blue hues , iron-reds and gilded highlights. Painted with floral designs with mythical beasts to the edges . The central circular medallion with fanned segmented design, surrounded with divided panels of further decoration.
The verso decorated to the edges with floral vignettes , having triple blue ring around the raised foot-rim and a further double blue ring within. The interior of the foot-rim having kiln spur-marks to the glaze produced when fired .
A highly decorative early Edo period charger in excellent original condition with no damage or repairs.
