A Large Pearlware “Winchester Measure” Frog Mug, circa 1820

A fine and substantial pearlware Winchester Measure frog mug dating to around 1820. The exterior is decorated with bands of basket-weave patterning and flowering branches, and is inscribed “Winchester Measure Warranted.” The decoration is highlighted in yellow, green, and gold.

Inside the mug are two yellow frogs accented with brown spots. There is a slight firing flaw at the lower rim, as shown in the photos, but the piece is otherwise free from damage, restoration, chips, or hairlines—rare to find in such condition.

Dimensions: 14 cm high; 13 cm diameter; 18.5 cm at the widest point.
