Antique Late Victorian Mahogany Bedside Cupboard C.1890

19th century
Description

A late Victorian mahogany bedside cupboard made by Trevor Page & Co. of Norwich, with a solid mahogany top, applied shaped splashback and a single panelled door which opens to a raised shelf and is fitted with its original sprung latch and decorative brass handle.

The design is straightforward and functional, reflecting the shift among some makers toward simpler domestic furniture in the late nineteenth century. Its compact scale works well beside a bed or as a small storage piece in a hallway or living space.

The cabinet retains its original Trevor Page & Co. brass maker’s badge to the rear, with a corresponding stamped mark to the top edge of the door.

Presented in very good antique condition with some surface wear consistent with age and use. Structurally sound, clean and ready to place in the home.

English, circa 1890.
