Ritas Bazaar has dated these Chelsea Porcelain Figural Candlesticks to the Georgian era.
The gilt scrollwork, applied foliage and expressive putti reflect the factory’s long-standing sculptural repertoire.

Summer holds a sheaf of wheat and originally a sickle, while Autumn carries grapes beneath a vine wreath. Comparable examples are represented in the V&A, the British Museum, the Metropolitan Museum of Art and the Bowes Museum.

Condition

A well-preserved decorative pair. Summer has a restored left arm, a missing bocage element at the back and the original sickle is now lost. Rubbing to the gilding. Autumn shows loss to the little finger and a small loss to the tree trunk. Both display very well with strong colour and form.
