Irish Georgian silver refers to sterling silver objects produced in Ireland during the reigns of George I through George IV, between 1714 and 1830. These pieces frequently feature distinct hallmarks, such as the crowned harp and Hibernia mark, combined with intricate hand-chased decoration.

Eighteenth-century silver bowls were crafted by hand-hammering a raised form from a solid sterling silver ingot. Fluting, reeding, and repousse ornamentation were hammered into the metal by silversmiths, after which cast details like shell feet were soldered to the base.

Authentic George II silver is identified by examining stamped hallmarks, which include a makers mark, date letter, purity mark, and assay office mark. Hand-hammered interior surfaces and stylistic details typical of the 17301760 period also assist in verification.

An antique silver bowl serves as a refined accent piece when positioned in the centre of a dining table, atop a sideboard, or on a console. The polished metal finish creates an elegant contrast against dark timber or contemporary matte surfaces.

Antique silver should be washed gently in warm water with mild dish soap and dried with a soft cotton cloth. For tarnish removal, a non-abrasive silver polish applied with minimal pressure preserves the hand-chased surface details.
