Puckerings has dated this piece to the 1890s.
It is the exquisite sterling silver lid on this example that makes it stand out from the crowd, with an almost Art Nouveau design, floral and foliate vignettes within stylized heart shaped surrounds. The centre of the gently domed lid has a vacant cartouche which could be personalized by your silversmith should you wish.

The silver is of course hallmarked for Birmingham 1896, late Victorian in era together with the makers initials S*B for the silversmith, Synyer & Beddoes. Excellent condition with a lid diameter measuring 3 1/8" and stands 3 3/4" tall.
