Antique Gallet & Co pocket watch for Thomas Eaton.

The T Eaton Company Limited, commonly known as Eaton's, was a Canadian department store chain that was once Canada's largest. It was founded in 1869 in Toronto by Timothy Eaton, an immigrant from what is now Northern Ireland.

The watch has a good quality 15-jewel stem-winding movement which is working nicely. Patterned plates, Breguet hairspring and the Gallet disc regulator.

The watch measures 59mm diameter so slightly larger than a standard 50mm diameter watch, it is also quite a chunky piece. The case is Silveroid, an alloy often used in watch cases around this time and it came under various names such as Silverore and Silverine. The case is in lovely condition.

The thick glass lens has a couple of marks but nothing too serious.

The signed dial is in beautiful condition with blued steel hands, outer minute markers and inner 24 hour numbers.

The watch comes in a new presentation box.

We are an on-line only business and do not have facilities for callers. Our offices are open from Monday to Friday 9am to 5pm.

With regards to appraisals / valuations, we receive a huge number of information requests each day and unfortunately do not have the manpower to deal with them all individually. Our advice would be to contact a local auctioneer for a full appraisal.
