Unusual Victorian Silver Mounted Spatter Glass Scent Bottle by Charles May, Birmingham 1897

Description

This gorgeous 19th Century Franz Welz Bohemian glass scent bottle is mounted with a screw-top silver lid dated Birmingham 1897 and made by the scent bottle maker Charles May. The variegated spatter yellow opaline glass body heightened with enamelled gilt decorations. The screw-top lid embossed with foliate sprays surrounding a vacant reserve. The inner lid corked.

Hallmarks:

CM for Charles May.

Birmingham Assay mark.

Lion passant.

Date letter "x" for 1897.

Condition:

Very good.

Silver lid in good condition.

Glass in excellent condition. No chips or cracks.

Dimensions:

Height: 10cm / 4 inches.

Diameter at widest: 7cm / 2.6 inches.
