Rare Early 19th Century Old Sheffield Plated Wine Cooler

Description

A rare and unusual wine cooler with an removable ice bucket top. Made of Old Sheffield Plate and dating to c1800. A wonderful piece of design featuring sphinx head handles and stylised wing cartouches. Engraved with the family crest of a squirrel eating a nut. With two internal removable buckets and removable ring. Tinned and seamed to the interior.

The condition is good overall. Very slight copper bleed to the raised edges and a couple of small dings to the body and some edging missing to the base rim. A very robust piece that has seen a small amount of life.

Weight approx 3.1kg.
