Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Art Deco wristwatches from the 1930s are recognised by geometric line work, stylized typography on the dial, and decorative case engraving. Manufacturers favoured streamlined rectangular, tonneau, or lozenge shapes over traditional round designs.

During the 1930s, watch cases were commonly made from chrome-plated metal, white gold fill, or sterling silver. They featured mechanical manual-wind movements, glass or acrylic crystals, and woven wire mesh or expandable metal straps.

Authentic Elgin timepieces typically feature maker signatures on both the dial and the internal mechanical movement. The movement serial numbers can be cross-referenced with manufacturer records to determine the precise production year.

Antique timepieces should be stored in a dry, temperature-controlled environment inside a padded watch box or lined tray to protect against dust and impact damage. Keep the watch away from strong magnetic fields which can disrupt the mechanical balance spring.

Mechanical watches require periodic servicing every three to five years by a qualified horologist to clean, lubricate, and adjust the movement. To preserve the timepiece, avoid exposing it to water, high humidity, or modern automated watch winders.
