Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

Bakhtiari rugs originate from the Chahar Mahal region in Western Persia, crafted by nomadic and settled Bakhtiari weavers. These textiles are renowned for robust hand-knotted construction, rich natural dyes, and distinctive motifs such as floral compartments or repeating tree-of-life patterns.

Bakhtiari rugs are constructed using a sturdy wool pile hand-knotted onto a durable cotton or wool warp and weft foundation. High-grade local wool provides structural durability and lustre, with natural plant and mineral dyes creating deep blue, terracotta red, and cream shades.

Authenticity is indicated by slight variations in hand-spun yarn density, natural dye abrash shade changes, and a firm structural handle. Examining the reverse reveals crisp knot definition, symmetrical double knots, and minor irregularities inherent to tribal handloom production.

A narrow Bakhtiari runner serves as a grounding focal point in hallways, entryways, or alongside bedroom furniture. The contrast of rich deep navy and crimson red tones complements neutral contemporary floorings, polished timber, or flagstone tile backgrounds.

Regular suction-only vacuuming without a rotating beater bar prevents fibre stress and loose wool extraction. Professional dry cleaning or specialised hand-washing by antique textile conservators is recommended alongside immediate spot-cleaning of spills with cold water and mild detergent.
