Every single antique dealer on our platform is individually approved by our internal team. We verify their professional trade history, ethical standards, and photographic quality to ensure a secure, high-standard buying environment. Upon joining, every dealer agrees to a strict 9-point code of conduct. While issues can occasionally arise, our dealers typically resolve them swiftly and directly with the buyer. In fact, since our founding in 2002, Sellingantiques has only had to step in to help resolve an issue on roughly five occasions—a true testament to the quality of our dealers and their dedication to your happiness.
Our dealers are highly experienced in packing and shipping fragile, high-value antiques. Because you are in direct contact with the dealer, you will be able to easily go through all available shipping and insurance options together to ensure your item arrives safely.
Antiques are the ultimate green purchase. By choosing historical pieces over newly manufactured goods, you completely eliminate the carbon footprint of modern mass production while preserving exceptional, timeless craftsmanship.

A French tray top side table is an occasional table designed with a raised rim or fitted with side handles, historically used for serving tea or refreshments. These tables often feature parquetry or marquetry woodwork paired with decorative cast brass or gilt-bronze mounts.

Traditional French Rococo style furniture utilizes cabinet woods such as kingwood, tulipwood, and rosewood for veneering and parquetry. Decorative elements rely heavily on gilt-bronze (ormolu) mounts, which serve both aesthetic purposes and protect delicate wooden corners.

Authentic pieces display hand-cut veneer joinery, natural timber grain variations, and heavy, detailed bronze mounts fixed with hand-cut screws. Construction signatures, stamps, or specific casting marks from prominent makers may also be present on the underside or frame.

Positioning a French ormolu side table beside a clean-lined modern sofa creates a balanced textural contrast. It functions effectively as a focal accent piece in living rooms, hallways, or formal reception spaces.

Dust the wood regularly with a dry microfibre cloth and apply a clear beeswax polish periodically along the wood grain. Avoid harsh chemical cleaners on gilt-bronze mounts to preserve the original gilded finish and patination.
