1970 Aquastar Regate Yacht Racing Timer

1940 - 1960
Description

A 1970 Aquastar Regate yacht racing timer. A silvered dial with a sunburst finish. Large steel block hour markers, elongated at the quarters. This watch features a 10 minute countdown timer, originally intended for the countdown to the start of a yacht race. When reset, the apertures at the top go gradually from blue to red, then to silver. Each aperture takes 1 minute to change colour. The second function is indicated by a yellow/orange counterbalanced hand. Signed to the dial 'Racing' below the Lemania crown logo, as these watches utilised Lemania calibres.

A large stainless steel case in excellent condition, with the original brushed steel finish and contrasting polished edges. Original Aquastar winding crown. A screw down case back, impressed with the large Aquastar Geneve logo. Case reference 9851.

The watch is powered by a 17 jewel caliber 1345 Lemania mechanism. The rotor bears the Aquastar script, indicating their inspection and association of this particular calibre. Circa 1970.
