Regency Giltwood Pier Glass – Intaglio Cut Mirror Plate, c.1815
An early 19th century Regency pier glass of good proportions, with carved wood and gilt gesso frame.
The upper section features scroll and foliate decoration with classical influence, framing an arched mirror plate finely intaglio cut with neoclassical motifs.
Original two-part mirror plate with age-related wear. The gilding is rubbed in places and a small section of moulding is missing to the lower edge, as shown. Old pine backboards.
