A lively example of a Khamseh tribal rug. The classic design of stepped diamonds joined at the vertical on a field festooned with chickens, flowers and stylised boteh announces its provenance. As does the colour palette, particularly the deep red of the border and pure blue of the main field. I love the alternating black and white minor borders that really jump out the rug. The complex interlocking main border is also pleasing. A very tribal looking rug with soft wool and strong colours.
Fair condition with some wear and a little repair. There is some loss to the ends.
